i’ve come to find that sometimes when you lose someone that you love, you lose a piece of yourself, too. the way a person leaves stays with you long after they’re gone, i guess. you remember the quiet. you remember the chaos. you remember the fighting and crying and the sound of goodbye. you remember breaking, lying breathless on the cold bathroom floor. and no matter how hard you try to forget, you remember it all. the memories are always there, pounding through your veins and penetrating the walls of your heart. you remember the loving, but you remember the leaving even more. you try and try to move on but you’re paralyzed by the thought of someone holding your love and then letting it go. your world stops spinning but you know that their world is turning faster and faster now that you’re gone. and it hurts.
i’ve come to find that sometimes when you lose someone that you love, you lose a piece of yourself, too. and so you pick up the pieces. but you’re not sure you’ll ever be whole again.
